$3 Million Is Just the Beginning, Delivery Is Our Responsibility

Hi everyone, I’m Vic, Founder of LightMake, and a 3D printing engineer.

A few days ago, our crowdfunding campaign surpassed $3 million. To me, this is more than just a milestone. It is a responsibility we take seriously. Behind it lies the trust of every backer worldwide, and each bit of trust corresponds to a machine we have promised to deliver. Thank you all so much. Rest assured, figuring out how to get a high-performance machine into your hands is what my team and I think about every single day.

I believe in building L4 together with our community. So alongside the day-to-day work, I still make time every day to read the discussions and messages from everyone in the community. I’ve seen most of your praise, questions, and suggestions. We also have dedicated team members collecting and organizing all your feedback, so please know every comment will be taken seriously.

At the same time, I’ve noticed areas where we still need to improve from the community:
  • In-depth review videos are lacking; more independent third-party evaluations are needed.
  • More print test videos and livestreams are required.
  • Demonstrations of accessories are insufficient.
  • More frequent and transparent communication from our team.

We accept all this feedback and have added these items to our work list. We apologize for not meeting your expectations sooner — but our whole team is working hard on these matters.

What We’ve Been Working On

Optimizing print quality, especially color transition for multi-color models. Progress has been very promising!

Our Priorities for the Coming Period

Improve Printing Performance

  • Refine print profiles and keep boosting print quality.
  • Increase print speed and acceleration. If all goes well, we will launch a High-Speed Mode and a High-Precision Mode.
  • Optimize print head switching speed, targeting 1 second (currently around 2 seconds).
  • Enhance multi-material printing performance.

Improve the LightMake Slicer User Experience

  • Improve the Slicer interaction experience.
  • Unlock more native Orca features, such as calibration functions.
  • Optimize nozzle avoidance algorithms to break size limits when printing extra-large models.
  • Carefully review and analyze user feedback, gradually implementing features and improvements requested by backers across forums, videos and communities.

Iterate Accessory Products

FEDS
  • Test the performance of integrated desiccant storage.
  • Test the smooth feeding of TPU from the FEDS unit during printing.
  • Add parameter readouts on the screen (temperature, humidity, device ID).
  • Optimize UI interaction and software control logic when FEDS is attached.

Thermo Top Kit Cover
  • Test the functional performance of the activated carbon HEPA filter.
  • Test inlet sealing when integrated PTFE tubes.
  • Verify heating and drying performance on new prototypes.

Automatic Print Removal System R1
  • Complete sealing design so it can be used even when printing engineering parts.
  • Refine the array of small holes on the PEI plate.
  • Increase movement speed for picking and releasing prints.
  • Make installation easier.

Auto Color-Mixing Filament Maker C1
  • Balance filament drawing speed and product size.
  • Improve automatic ingredient dosing accuracy.
  • Strengthen air-cooling capacity.

A Frank Talk About Delivery

3D printing is a complex category. Many issues only surface and can be resolved after extensive testing on many machines. We're continuing intensive testing and iteration while preparing for the next stage of production. By mid-October, we expect to transition all components to their molded versions and produce a new batch of machines with further refinements and improvements.

I also see concerns within the community about delivery timelines, and I fully understand. Backing a machine you have not yet received requires trust. What we can do is earn that trust back step by step, through transparent progress updates, real data, and a solid roadmap. If you have any worries, please email me at vic@lightmake.tech Our team will reply promptly, and important feedback will come directly to me.

Additionally, we have heard the strong demand for third-party in-depth reviews, and we are taking this on board. After early testers, the next batch of prototypes will be prioritized for independent reviewers, so you will see a new round of functional tests and detailed content.

Our Commitment

As a new brand, I know how hard it is to earn trust. That is why we will attend Formnext 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany. This is not just to introduce LightMake to more people — it is our commitment to product performance. We will open our machines to scrutiny at this professional trade show. You are welcome to visit us on-site; both the printers and all accessories will be on full display.

Thank you again to every backer. Every suggestion you share will be carefully reviewed. Our next progress update will be released around late September or early October as pilot production kicks off, where we will share details about our preparation for the pilot run.
