Slicer Software Tutorial

Software Overview 

LightMake Slicer is an open-source slicing software developed based on the Orca project. It supports smart build-plate arrangement, model editing, parameter configuration, and printer fleet management. Print jobs can be sent via a local area network (LAN) or Wi-Fi, while the mobile app enables real-time monitoring of print progress.

 

Recently Opened
The upper-left corner of the page displays recently used files. Click a file to open it quickly.

 

Smart Build Plate Arrangement

 

In the Prepare workspace, select Smart Build Plate Arrangement from the top of the page. Intelligent algorithms arrange the models to maximize build-plate utilization. With only a few simple steps, you can coordinate all four print heads for efficient production.

 

Note: Only eligible models can enter Smart Build Plate Arrangement mode.

 

 

Drag the slider to quickly adjust the quantity of models to be printed.

 

 

Copy Mode

 

Batch-print identical copies of a model.

 

 

Mirror Mode

 

Batch-print mirrored, geometrically symmetrical models, such as the left and right wings of an insect.

 

 

Save

 

Click Save to retain the current smart build-plate layout and start slicing.

 

 

Find Printers

 

Automatically Find Printers

 

On the Device Management page, automatically discover printers on the configured IP subnet.

 

 

After discovery is complete, the list of detected printers is displayed. Select the required printer, then click Add at the bottom to add it to the device list.

 

 

 

Manually Find Printers

 

If automatic discovery does not find your printer, enter its IP address to locate and add the printer manually.

 

 

 

Grid View and List View

 

In the upper-right corner of the printer list, switch between Grid View and List View according to your preference.

 

 

Print Models

 

Adjust Parameters

 

You can adjust the model’s print settings using the familiar Orca workflow, including material, print quality, strength, speed, support, and more.


Slice

Once the models are prepared, you can slice them.


After slicing is complete, click the button in the upper-right corner to submit the print job.


Submit a Print Job

When submitting a print job, the software automatically matches and selects printers whose material type and color are compatible with the model's material requirements.


It also calculates the total number of models in this job and the estimated material consumption.


If the material loaded in a printer does not match the color or material type required by the model, that printer is not selected automatically.


However, when the material type is the same, you may choose another color and force-select that printer for printing.


After confirming the settings, you can formally submit print jobs to multiple printers.


When the progress bar finishes, the printer starts printing.


View Printer Status

Click a printer card to view its current status, including the model being printed, the printer camera, nozzle temperature and material controls, and auxiliary-fan intensity controls.



At the top of the printer list, you can switch at any time to view different printers.
